will found a way
2015-
Becoming 'human' again.
As a result of meningitis and encephalitis, I lost my ability to recollect and comprehend and, over time, many of my executive, cognitive and motor functions became limited or were diminished. I was paralysed by physical pain and numbness with the inability to use some of my limbs and also was floored by fatigue.
Somehow I found myself intuitively creating tools to aide my rehabilitation.
I still can't say whether my ability to support myself through this time was innate, down to my personality or something more...I suspect all three...
Resilience, being adaptive, patience, creativity, humour, curiosity and a sense of adventure were pre-requisites.
Remembering I forget: the oddest and most magical oxymoron of all.
